The Bi-Steel Panel

Updated - July 2008

Bi-Steel is a Corus-patented construction material comprising two steel plates that are connected together to form panels by an array of friction welded transverse bars.

The void between these panels is then filled with ready-mixed concrete to create a composite material with outstanding strength and performance.

Bi-Steel panels are produced in a quality controlled factory environment that ensures the highest standards of off-site manufacture are achieved. The process provides high quality welds and is typically used when it is anticipated that components will be severely loaded. Weld quality is monitored as each panel is produced and all processes are quality assured. Panels can be made straight or curved, in various thicknesses and are lighter and thinner than equivalent strength concrete panels.

Assembly on site is fast, accuracy is assured and build efficiency is enhanced as Bi-Steel fully realises the benefits of modular off-site construction techniques.

Bi-Steel panels are used in the construction, defence and security markets to create individual building elements, complete structures, or specialist products for niche applications where the highest levels of performance are required.
