Commercial buildings
Commercial office buildings are a key battleground in the construction industry. Steels current market share in the sector is over 70% as arguments over issues such as flexibility, building life, sustainability and cost are being won.

Vulcan House
Vulcan House is an attractive addition to Sheffield's city centre. The structure is the Home Office's new purpose-built headquarters and every detail has been fine-tuned to deliver optimum environmental performance.

Manchester Civil Justice Centre
The 15-storey steel framed building is the biggest court complex built in the UK since London's Royal Courts of Justice in Queen Victoria's reign, providing 34,000m2 of accommodation.

One Basinghall Avenue
A prestigious office building in the heart of London's financial district has benefited from the use of Corefast. This innovative modular building core system from Corus has enabled the structural core to be completed five times faster than a traditional concrete core.

Dundrum Town Centre
Corefast’s high strength and speed of construction were the key reasons why the system was used in the new Dundrum Town Centre shopping complex, near Dublin. Corefast was specified to build the lift core in the stunning cinema complex, enabling the architect’s vision of a scenic lift with elegant, slender walls to be achieved.

Forty Springardens
This high class office scheme in Manchester’s financial district has been carefully designed to blend with the historic buildings that surround it. Care has also been taken to embrace the latest techniques aimed at improving construction efficiency, hence the selection of Corefast, an innovative modular system for the construction of structural building cores.

St Paul's Square
Corefast enabled Shepherd Construction to save 21 weeks on a 105-week programme at its St Paul’s Square, Liverpool development. Its use reduced the number of tower cranes required on site from two to one and delivered significant cost savings.

Palestra
Palestra is the new home of the London Development Agency and the London Climate Change Agency. It is fitted with an array of renewable energy technologies which reduce the building’s operational energy and satisfies the GLA’s Supplementary Planning requirements for a minimum of 10% of renewable energy provision.

Kings Place
The ‘flexible use’ structure was designed as an eight storey steel-composite frame over three basement levels. The primary structure consists of 12 m span fabricated beams with multiple, circular web openings and supporting a 130 m deep composite slab.
Central Park
Central Park, Dublin, comprises ten multi-storey buildings providing commercial office space with the largest building, Block E, having a plan area of 24,435m². Originally the design was conceived as a reinforced concrete flat slab, but Slimdek's ability to compete on speed of construction reulted in the change to steel.
The Gateway
The Gateway development in Dublin comprises three office blocks and two apartment blocks on a 3.75 acre site with a large single storey basement beneath, which has space for 300 cars.
House of Fraser
Slimdek was the first choice for renovation of the House of Fraser's retail store in Guildford. The building was extended by 2-storeys whilst satisfying strict planning requirements on building height, and the opportunity was created to remodel the store, providing a 5-storey atrium topped with a curved tubular steel roof.
