The London School of Economics and Political Sciences has created an imaginative new Academic Building comprising new lecture theatres, classrooms, research facilities and administration offices in an imposing period structure adjacent to Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London.

The interior of the existing building was completely removed with the elegant façade retained and repaired.

Creating a completely new nine-storey plus basement steel frame structure within the existing façade presented many challenges to the architects and main contractor. Corefast helped both to meet these, enabling them to reduce the installation time required to construct the two lift/stair cores to just two weeks, compared with 14 weeks had reinforced concrete been used.
