Healthcare buildings
Hospital design presents construction firms with unique challenges. The buildings must be flexible and adaptable in use, meet heavy servicing requirements, satisfy any vibration requirements and still be constructed in double quick time. Recent hospital projects have demonstrated that steel construction is well placed to meet these demands.

Breathing Space
A steel frame was chosen for speed of construction and for its ability to easily integrate with structural elements, for example the gluelam roof and external walling. The steel structure provides straight-forward structural connections between these elements.

St Richards Hospital
The Slimdek flooring system proved to be the healthy choice for the state-of-the-art Diagnosis and Treatment Centre at St Richard's Hospital, Chichester.

Sunderland Royal Hospital
Sunderland Royal Hospital's steel-framed five-storey extension was opened Spring 2006. The 15,000m² development incorporates three general and two ultra-clean operating theatres as well as sterilising facilities for the theatres and a mortuary.
