Pre-finished steel cladding provides the designer with an ideal solution for a low maintenance and high performing building envelope over many years. The best possible performance from any building will be secured by undertaking periodic inspections and completing any required maintenance. To extend its life further, a building may also benefit from some refurbishment either in terms of over-painting or over-cladding at the appropriate time.

Further Information
Colorcoat-Online is intended to provide a good source of information and guidance on the key areas that need to be considered when designing, specifying and constructing metal envelopes. Sources of further information relating to Occupation and Use are included here to provide an additional source of guidance should this be required. Additional information and guidance is also available from the Colorcoat Connection® helpline.

Inspection & Maintenance
To secure the best possible performance and life-time from pre-finished steel cladding, a structured maintenance regime is recommended. Here the main areas that need to be checked and actioned as part of an ongoing inspection and maintenance programme are outlined. This then provides the basis for an easy-to- use ‘inspection survey template’ that can be included with any handover documents once a building is operational.
