Corus Student Awards 2009/2010
The objective of this competition is to encourage engineering design skills in the use of structural steelwork in an innovative structural solution. The brief has been formulated to encourage the entrants to realise the full structural, economic and aesthetic advantages offered by the use of both open and tubular structural steelwork profiles.
Note that for the 2009/2010 competition, no financial prizes will be awarded, and there are no plans for an awards ceremony. It is anticipated that the winning submissions will be reported in New Steel Construction.
Structural Awards 2009/2010
The brief this year is to prepare an outline design for a new school. In addition to an excellent structural design, entrants are required to consider the carbon footprint of their proposed solution.
Steel bridge design 2009/2010
The project brief this year is to design a structure to carry a single carriagewaybypass across a valley. A river, a railway and difficult access to one side of the river demand a careful approach to the construction process.
