Bi-Steel modular construction
Bi-Steel offers the full range of modular, off-site construction benefits. It is ideal for creating structural cores in multi-storey buildings and shear walls, as well as blast protective walls and structures - quickly, easily and with high levels of accuracy.
Bi-Steel
A Corus-patented construction material, Bi-Steel comprises two steel plates that are connected together to form panels by an array of friction welded transverse bars. The void between these panels is then filled with ready-mixed concrete to create a composite material with outstanding strength and performance.
Modular Corefast lift and stair cores
A superior method of creating structural building cores, Corefast offers significant advantages over traditional reinforced concrete construction. Corefast cores are made from Bi-Steel panels. These are manufactured off-site and the panels, or modules (consisting of two or more panels), are then transported to the project site where they are quickly and accurately assembled to form the core. When this is fully erected the panels are filled with concrete to create a robust structure with outstanding strength and stiffness.
Modular shear walls
In the construction sector Bi-Steel is used to construct shear walls to provide additional stability to multi-storey steel frame structures. Typically, a Bi-Steel shear wall will be selected as an additional structural element, which, together with the Corefast structural core(s) specified for the scheme, will deliver the required structural rigidity. Bi-Steel shear walls provide accurate structures that are quick and easy to erect.
Modular blast protection walls and structures
Bi-Steel has undergone extensive testing to prove its integrity as a material ideally suited to provide blast protection and resist attacks that involve the use of extreme physical force. These tests have been conducted in association with recognised Government agencies. Blast walls constructed from Bi-Steel offer unrivalled performance. Additionally they are fast to erect, offer high levels of accuracy and are much thinner than equivalent strength reinforced concrete walls. Bi-Steel modules can also be used to create complete structures for Government, commercial and military use or to construct safe, secure areas within existing structures to protect critical building services. Typical applications include command and control centres, data and cash storage facilities, high value commodity storage and temporary refuge areas.
