Description of software
This program was prepared by The Steel Construction Institute. It designs and analyses Slimflor Fabricated Beams (SFB) supporting deep decking or pre-cast concrete hollow-core slabs. It includes both normal and fire design.
Design principles are in accordance with the appropriate parts of BS5950 : Part 1 (2000), Part 3 (1990), Part 8 (1990) and the following SCI Publications:
SCI P110: Slim floor design and construction
SCI P248: Design of Slimflor fabricated beams using deep composite decking.
The SLIMFLOR beam is assumed to be fabricated from a UC section with a welded bottom plate.
The program includes options for the use of deep composite slabs (using CF210 or SD225 decking), or alternatively, precast concrete units, subject to certain detailing requirements. Edge beams are analysed only for the deep deck case and can be loaded by a cladding element on one side. Decking may span perpendicular to or parallel to the SLIMFLOR beam on one or both sides.
