Sustainability publications
The steel sector – comprising Corus, the British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA), and the Steel Construction Institute (SCI) – is delighted to be leading the way in developing a more sustainable construction industry for the UK.

Sustainable Steel Construction
Reducing the carbon footprint of buildings is set to remain a top priority for the steel construction sector.

Sustainable construction: The bigger picture
Steel construction has no equal in sustainability. The recycling and reuse rate for steel construction products in the UK is 94% and as high as 99% for structural steelwork.

The right direction
Nothing could be more natural or sustainable than to build our world with steel. Iron, the basic raw material, is the most abundant element on Earth. This inexhaustible natural resource becomes truly infinite as steel can be recycled indefinitely without loss of property or performance.

Sustainable steel construction
An overview of the design and construction of sustainable buildings, demonstrating steel's excellent sustainability credentials. Case studies illustrate how steel is being used to provide solutions for key sustainability issues such as fabric energy storage, minimum waste, flexibility of use and excellent recycling/reuse at end of life.
