The versatility of steel ensures that it is used in many applications. We will consider two forms of construction-multi storey buildings and industrial sheds.
Foundations
The first step in the construction process is the laying of the foundations. Depending on the strength of the ground, different types of foundations can be used.
Multi-storey construction
Multi-storey construction comprises a number of different elements. Columns transfer the vertical loads down through the structure to the foundations.
Industrial shed
Steel portal frames are used for industrial sheds, the portal frames support the external envelope of the building. Cladding systems are formed from profiled coated steel and incorporate insulation to meet building regulation requirements.
